Short explanations, Chapter I

The static bulk modulus of the vacuum

RSI holds that the enormous energy of the vacuum is real but static, the stiffness of the medium, undetectable because we are made of it.

If space oscillates at the Planck frequency, about 10⁴³ Hz, the energy stored in the vacuum must be enormous. Standard QFT reaches a similar magnitude and calls the result the vacuum catastrophe.

RSI resolves this by correcting the ontology rather than the mathematics. The monumental energy is real, but it is not active thermal energy expanding into a void. It is the Static Bulk Modulus of the Eternal Consonance. (A bulk modulus measures how strongly a material resists compression.) Because the EC is a contiguous, high-tension medium, this energy sits in frictionless, symmetric equilibrium, which RSI calls the Rest-State.

A creature at the bottom of the ocean is equilibrated to enormous static pressure and senses only local differences. In the same way, our instruments are immersed in the 10⁴³ Hz vibration. We cannot measure the absolute potential of the medium because we are constituted by it. We measure only the energetic cost of matter-knots, localized deviations that invert the baseline.
